Men Rite of Passage - MROP

Richard Rohr words:

We are asking men to come willing to participate in the ritual from beginning to end and not as observers. Everyone is to start at point zero with no preconceived notions or judgments. All we ask of men is that they come with the "beginner's mind" as novices seeking wisdom. After all, initiation, like life itself, is no "spectator sport." .

If we ask men what it is to be a man, most of them will be confused. Men often long for the guidance and support of other men in their search for manhood, maturity, and a deeper experience of the spiritual life. In indigenous cultures, boys were sent on initiation journeys or underwent initiation rituals as they entered adulthood.

Similarly, the MROP Rite of Passage into Mature Adulthood helps men awaken to the adventure and mystery of their own masculinity, deeper spirituality, authority, and finding meaning in life.

Living a superficial life is an empty experience. The journey follows an ancient tradition where men must learn five basic messages. He must learn them before he can fully engage in the mystery and adventure that life brings. MROP opens the door to this adventure.

The ritual lasts for five days and is based on traditional patterns of male initiation (through rituals and teaching) Each day consists of communal prayer, core teaching on themes of male spirituality, a time of silence, small group sharing, and rituals.

It's not about religion, it's about spirituality. It's about the ancient traditions that lead us to mature manhood, about trusting that there is something much greater than what we can even imagine in life.

We know that we can't become mature and wise after one weekend, but over 1500 (our) men have made a personal experience in attending past years of this event that ON THE ROAD TO MATURE ADULTHOOD THIS TIME CAN BE A VERY GOOD BEGINNING.

The program finds inspiration in other cultures and religious traditions, but is based entirely on Christian foundations. It is designed for middle-aged men (minimum age 30 years recommended).

In the following video, Richard Rohr presents his view of men and their position in the contemporary world. He explains why initiation into true, spiritual manhood is still necessary for the life of a man today.

The picture of Christ on the back wall is used in our rituals and events, painted by father and son Rad together, and we brought a copy of it to Richard Rohr as a gift to express our gratitude.
